NEW YORK CITY, FUTURE FURNITURE AWARD / Expanding Light

New York City, May 2005: Interior Design Magazine has awarded the Expanding Light with the Future Furniture Award.

The Expanding Light is composed of translucent fiberglass panels suspended in an acrylic tube. The fiberglass panels are loosely placed on the acrylic tube so that the location and density of the panels can be random, thus varying the amount of light emitted.

The central acrylic tube is internally illuminated with LED light. Due to of the nature of the fiberglass material used for the floating panels, this dynamic fixture can appear as a volume of suspended blurred light or as a glowing linear tube with vertical baffles, depending on what angle it’s viewed from.
